CURRENT STUDIO NEWS Our end of the year (2007-2008) is quickly upon us. Many important end of the year activities will be occurring at the studio. A calendar with important end of year dates is also posted on lobby board for your convenience. This has been a great year, and each of us here at the studio has thoroughly enjoyed sharing in the lives of our students. Instilling the love of movement is our greatest desire. Parents and Students: April 2008 Our end of the year production is quickly upon us! Here are a few notes about this grand event. For those of you who are new to this wonderful experience, WELCOME and DON’T PANIC! We will get you through it. This will be a splendid event for both you and your performer! Dress rehearsal is always quite eventful; there will be a lot of starting & stopping that is why it is a rehearsal. Don’t get discouraged, things will come together the day of the show! It is very important that you read and understand the information contained in this letter. Please ask us if you have any questions or concerns!
Important Dates to Remember!
Production tank tops & t-shirts are on sale the weeks of Mar. 24- Apr 11! Please see bulletin board for sign up/order sheet. All tanks/shirts up to AXL will be $16 and AXXL will be $18. See lobby board for design of tank/shirt. Order your tank or t-shirt as a great souvenir of our fabulous production of “The Lion King”! ORDER TODAY, DON”T DELAY!! Best quality of shirt ever this year!
Tights will be on sale in studio boutique beginning the week after spring break in month of April & then throughout month of May. Prices range from approximately $6-10 depending on type and need. The color needed for your child’s class will be posted in lobby. Each student needs the right color and style for their particular class. The boutique will be open at various times. Please see schedule that will be posted on the door. Reminder: tights purchased for production should not be worn for class, except on class picture day, save for production!!!
Costumes will be handed out in the first week of May (5-8). Two complimentary tickets and final end of year newsletter will be given out with costume. Class group photos will also be taken during this time. Be prepared to order your child’s class picture! Each student will try on costume, receive costume instructions and then have picture taken. Hair done nice this day and tights on really help to make a great class picture!!! Class photos are $8 for 5x7 & $10 for 8x10.
Group pictures will be done at the studio during the week costumes are handed out, Mon, May 5 through Thurs. May 8th . Each class will try their costume on and then have class group photo taken. No individual camera pictures please. Please respect our photographer coming. You may take photos at dress rehearsal. Cindy Whitt will be taking our class pictures. Cindy does pictures at Mars Hill College. Prices: $8 for 5x7 and $10 for 8x10. Class pictures should be available for pick up at dress rehearsal. Cindy will also be taking pictures during the recital performance and backstage!! Get a glimpse of what the backstage life is like!!!! These pictures will be available to view and purchase via the web at reasonable rates and in a variety of sizes. More details week of class pictures! Last year’s pictures were fabulous and a great part of our end of the year production services!! Individual Pictures of your star will be available on Friday May 9th and Sat. May 10th. Ryan Phillips will be doing our individual pictures. Friday times begin at 3:15 and Sat. begins at 9:30am. A sign up time sheet will be posted on lobby board to reserve your time slot. Last year’s pictures were terrific!! This is a fabulous way to have a picture of your “star”!! Board will have pricing info with sign up sheet. A $3.00 picture fee is required to reserve the time slot, payable to Dimensions and non refundable. This helps to guarantee customers for photographer! If you have more than one costume and wish to have pictures of both, then you need to reserve different time slots with time in between for changing. Pictures should be handed back out by the last week of classes!
We encourage you to take pictures during the dress rehearsal. We ask that no pictures be taken during the performance on Saturday. NO FLASH PHOTOGRAHPY PLEASE. The bulbs flashing and people moving about are terribly distracting and dangerous to the performers, as well as, to the audience. These students have worked extremely hard to provide you with a wonderful show and they deserve that respect. As previously mentioned, our photographer, Cindy Whitt, will be on hand to do performance pictures without any distractions.
Sat. May 17 is our studio rehearsal. We will run the entire production of “The Lion King” at this time at the studio. Studio rehearsal is a closed rehearsal. This means, due to space, there can be no observing. All students (dance, clogging, & acrobatics) need to attend. Bring any needed dance shoes, snack and wear regular class clothing or something comfortable to move in. This is not a dress rehearsal. Costumes are not needed at this rehearsal. BRING PERFORMERS on a FULL BELLY!! The Way Studio Rehearsal Works: We have a Rehearsal Staff set up for this event, each class has a designated spot where they will sit. You will check your child in with Staff when you arrive. Upon picking up your child, you will be required to come to the door of the building and we will call your child to come to you, this way we can check each student out properly. By doing check in & outs, we can help assure your child's safety in the crowd. Please be patient with us, we operate under this procedure for safety! Your promptness for check in and check out will help assure a speedy rehearsal! NOTE: this rehearsal counts as a snow make-up day!! TIME: 10:45-12:15 will be routines 1-18 and 12:30-1:45 will be routines 19-35. Please see studio bulletin board to find your child's class routine number(s). You will need to pick up your child either at 12:15 or at 1:45. Please check them out with a staff member. If you are just in the first half or just the second half that is only when you need to be at studio. If you are in both halves, you will need to stay the whole time!!
Fri. May 23rd is dress rehearsal at 6:00pm, at Moore Auditorium, Mars Hill College, where the production is being held. All students need to attend dress rehearsal! We will start the rehearsal promptly at 6:00pm. Please do not be late!! We will then run the entire production beginning with the curtain call so students may leave when they are no longer needed. Please arrive at 5:45 in full costume, hair and make-up done! Upon arrival, come into the auditorium and have a seat with your class/group. You will find our "Star Staff" waiting for your child in the auditorium; they will have signs indicating which class(es) they are designated to assist. This Staff has written instructions pertaining to each class and child. They will know what their assigned class is supposed to do and when. Again, you will be asked to check in and out your child with their Star Staff Assistant. Bring all costume accessories and shoes labeled with student’s name. Promptness helps to ensure a smooth and successful dress rehearsal. You may attend this rehearsal.
At the dress rehearsal, all students will be able to watch the show from the auditorium. On Saturday, the day of the show, students should remain in dressing rooms backstage. Our “Star Staff" will be in the dressing rooms to help your child change their shoes & accessories. Students who have more than one costume will be receiving a separate instruction sheet for costume changes. Most all of our backstage crewmembers are former students, performers, and parents who have all experienced many Productions; thus, they know what they are doing. Our “Star Staff" are an instrumental part of our show. You will have met these people at dress rehearsal. We ask that parents remain in the audience on Saturday, the day of performance. If your child needs you, we will definitely get you. Please let your child's Star Staff Worker know any information that you feel will be helpful in keeping your child happy, while waiting backstage. If you do not feel comfortable with this arrangement let us know. We want this experience to be wonderful for both you and your child and we will do our best to accommodate you. The day of the show, you may want to have your child put a book or coloring book in their bag. This will help to relieve tension and “waiting for my turn” to go on. Also, we will have the show playing backstage on TV’s for the kids to watch!!!
Parents are not allowed to video!! We will have a professional videographer on hand to videotape the show. DVD and VHS will be on sale for $19. A sign up sheet will be posted. The day of show sales will be $22 each. Please pre-order!!! Sign up sheet will have more info!
*The production is at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24th. Call time for all students to be at the auditorium dressed and ready in make-up and hair on Sat is 5:15 p.m. All students need to go to their assigned dressing room with labeled shoes, accessories, etc. in their bag when they arrive. Enter through front of auditorium; go up the steps on the right side of the auditorium to the back of the stage. There you will meet the Stage Managers who will send you to your dressing room. Please remember to bring performers on a full belly!!!!!!
Please LABEL ALL OF YOUR CHILD’S BELONGINGS. Ribbons on tap shoes should be replaced with black elastic, sewn together. No jewelry onstage. All students need to wear make-up. Stage lights will wash them out unless you apply some color. Generally for younger students, make-up is used to emphasize their features. A touch of color on lips, cheeks, and eyes for accent with some foundation and powder is sufficient. Older performers need to apply make-up more heavily. Please no undergarments under dancewear- tights, leotard, etc.
Production Day Check List--Please bring to the auditorium!
Each student participating in the production will only receive two complimentary tickets (will receive with costume). Pre-purchased tickets will be available for sale at the studio for $5.00 between May 5th and May 16th. The easiest way to purchase pre-paid tickets: Drop a note in the tuition box with money and the tickets will be given to your child the following week in class. All other tickets will be available at the door, Saturday, May 24th, for $8.00. Children five and under are free. We will not be able to sale tickets at the May 17th rehearsal!
End of the Year Production trophies will be presented to students on Saturday, May 24th. Students will have their awards as they enter and bow during curtain call. Immediately following curtain call, each class will be called to the front of the stage to take one final bow, and then you will be instructed to come up on stage to get your child. Flowers or other gifts may be given at this time. Detailed instructions on picking up child at end of the production will be given at the end of the show. This is long and arduous process, however it endures the safety of our young stars in getting them to their parents. Class attendance and other awards will be presented to students in their last class (week of May 19-May 23).
The All Star Performance Team should have refreshments available at the Friday Dress Rehearsal and Saturday Production. Please send money with your children, so they will be prepared! On production day, there will also be flower bouquets for sale for your little star!

ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A ZERO BALANCE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PRODUCTION. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR ACCOUNT IS CURRENT BY MAY 12TH. THIS INCLUDES TUITION THROUGH MONTH OF MAY, LATE FEES, PRODUCTION FEE AND COSTUME FEES PAID. WE APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING IN THIS MATTER.
Other Stuff to Know ……
*We will be holding PRE-REGISTRATION for next season, Sept 2008-May 2009, during the month of May. We cannot pre-register Sat. May 17th at Studio Rehearsal! Space is limited and classes will fill up! Pre-Register to beat the fall crowd. You’ll be all ready to start in September. No Hassle!!!! $10.00 Pre-registration fee required for individuals & $20 for families. 2008-2009 registration fee will be $15.00 for individuals & $25 for families!!!
AUG REGISTRATION date is August 16th & 23rd from 10:00am TO 2:00pm! *Note! Policies may change from season to season because we learn from experience. Please be sure to read the policy manual for any changes.
This summer Dimensions Studio will be holding two Intensive Dance Camps: A High School Musical Theme Camp June 16th-20th for ages 3-7and a choreography dance camp June 23rd- 27th for ages 8 & up. Join the fun; and experience dance in a whole new way. Lobby bulletin board will have sign up sheet, pricing, and more information. Lots of fun, fun, fun planned!!!
This summer we will be having a class for ages 8 & up, not recommended for beginners. The class will be held once a week in months of June and July on Tuesdays, 5:15-6:30. A thirty minute pointe class will be offered afterwards, 6:30-7pm (this is invitation only). The class will consist of dance technique: ballet, jazz, modern, stretching and strengthening. This is a great way to stay in shape over the summer and for students to experience new things. $12 for just technique & $17 with pointe if pay by the class. All 9 classes, $90 & $125 if include pointe or $45 & $63 for 4 classes; payable when sign up for summer classes. Check in office to sign up and more info. NO registration fee for this summer classes.
Aerobics & Weight's Class will continue through the summer! Come to class, get in shape and have a great time! See schedule in lobby for times or call the office.
